movie ffmpeg

I have gallery2 installed and it mentions that to display movies I should install ffmpeg.
This will then enable me to display movies on the site.

It indicates this has to be installed as a binarie or whatever on the server.

Any suggesetions?

Hi John,

Thanks for your message. The FFmpeg is mainly an conversion tool from one video format to another but it does contain an experimental streaming server as well.  If your account resides on our shared servers, then I am afraid that we will not be able have you streaming video content on them due to the amount of resources that it would take up to display the video.

What we would suggest would be to simply upload the videos that you wish to use to Google Video or You Tube. Those websites offer free video hosting and the files can generally be almost in any format, so you can upload the files and then use the HTML code provided to embed the video into your website. Both sites require a simple free registration, then you are free to upload.

I suspected that may be the case. I will just let a few movies on for a normal download and 'suggest' that the movies are hosted elsewhere as you said.
