I noticed today that the look and feel of Horde, which I use from time to time to check my e-mail remotely, has changed.  Was this an upgrade or something?

Hi Tannerman,

I suspect (not sure what server you are on) that it is due to cPanel updates.

We are in process of upgrading cPanel on all of the servers this week.  We have posted a notice in our announcements section.  You can sign up to have those emailed to you through your Customer Control Center.

cPanel doesn't provide us with release notes or anything, so I can't say for sure what changes are in the upgrades, but suspect that if it just changed today that you are on one of the servers that was upgraded this morning.

Hello,

I can confirm what Pat is said.  The CPanel update installed today did include a substantial update to horde, which was unknown to us prior to applying the update.

It also included an update to phpBB that every user should upgrade.  phpBB verions prior to 2.0.11 are susceptible to the perl.santy worm (see http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...erl.santy.html).  If you are using phpBB and running an older version upgrade!

It is rather frustrating, even embarrassing, when you get email from clients asking why Horde has been changed and you don't even know that it has.

Is there no way of knowing what will be changing when you update cpanel ?

Hi K.C.

We totally agree with you. This is one of the issues we've always had with cPanel, they make many changes a day without release notes. We do not do auto update for just this reason, we do controlled updates.  That doesn't tell us what is in the release, but it does allow us to communicate that we're doing an update.

When running the update, there is literally thousands lines of output that doesn't really give us enough information to identify specific changes.

Sometimes their forums will discuss specific features or problems, but not in relation to updates unless there is a fix for a specific problem.

We will do some checking to see if there may be other resources available somewhere, however, this update was critical because it resolved a security issue with phpBB and was necessary to do right away.

We do appreciate your input and rest assured we will provide as much information as we can...it's just not an easy task with cPanel.

On Plesk they do formal releases and we have a section on the forums with the release notes. When we update the shared Plesk servers, the announcement includes a link to the forums with the release information.

Thanks for you feedback!

OK, so what is the deal with the new Horde?

I used to be able to login in the morning and let it set all day.  I would just hit refresh if I wanted to see if there were new messages.

Now, it can't keep me logged in for more than about 15 minutes.  And it starts prompting me to login again.  I left my desk this morning and had over 10 login promps waiting when I got back.

Is there someway to fix this behavior?  I want it to stay logged in until I logout or close the browser.

Thanks,

Hi CptofMySoul

I suggest you open a support ticket on this problem.  Getting this into the support desk will allow us to get the tier 2 techs on it.

I have visited the cPanel forums and found nothing about this specific issue either.  Sad

Thanks!!

Ok, I give.  Where is the ticketing system?  I can't find the support helpdesk anywhere on the webhsp.com site.
