I'm on a legacy VO server and I'm wondering if it is possible to stream video from it?

Any info?

Hi BassX,

No we don't have streaming video capability on our shared servers, as streaming is fairly server intensive.

You could do streaming video from any of our VPSes. Darwin streaming software is an add on that is available with our HSPcomplete VPSes.  I'm not sure if it's compatible with cPanel or Plesk.  It's probably okay, but if it is installed it is a non supported 3rd party script on those.

Hope this helps.

Hi BassX

Thought I'd add a comment on this.  We've had a lot of success using flash as an alternative to streaming videos and sound.  An added benefit is that you don't need to concern yourself about the media players your audience are using as almost everyone now can view flash movies.

Streaming is achieved by simly 'loading' a movie within a movie.

Hi Del,

That's an interesting idea. Can you point me in the right direction for more information on how this is done? - I have zero experience using Flash.

Thanks

Hi Bass,

Did some searching and reading on this and found what appears to be a decent guide at http://www.communitymx.com/content/article...93B648DECD7574E .  I'm not certain if that's exactly what you're looking for or perhaps Del knows a better one but it might get you started Smiley

Apologies for the delay in replying  -  obviously, I'm not looking in often enough.

That tutorial looks fine  -  however, there are a few products around that will convert audio and/or video files to swf files quickly and easily.

We use TurbineVideo.   http://www.blue-pacific.com/products/turbi...oad/default.htm
