First, a little background...

A couple of years ago I decided to purchase vBulletin so that I could create some forums for some local groups. When researching a hosting solution, many people in the vBulletin support forums were recommending Ventures Online so I chose them. The forums didn't quite take off and have had little use in the last year or two, but I have left them intact.

Through acquistion and spin offs, I noticed that VO became Data393 and now WebHSP. I now want to host a blog that I am setting up. I originally thought about hosting with godaddy since I have a few other services with them, but after reading some of the threads here from Pat, I decided I might just want to stay where I am at.

My questions...

Can I point some new domains to a sub directory on my existing domain?

I have domain1.com currently. I have my registar point the DNS to the VO name servers.
I want to put the blog in domain1.com/public_html/blog/wordpress/ directory and point domain2.com to this directory. I want web users to only see domain2.com in their browser. I also want to alias domain3.com to domain2.com so they are identical and land in the same place.

Can I do this with WebHSP?

Assuming I use my current registar, do I just point the new domains to the VO name severs too?

Finally, I am on a shared hosting plan which is still under the old packages. (V50 I think)
Of course, I don't know what that package is anymore. Will this be converted to a Pro 1000 at some point? and if so, will I be paying $3 less since I have been paying quarterly?

Thanks

Carl

Hi Carl,

We are happy to hear that you are staying with us. In regards to your question about pointing domain2.com to domain1.com/blog/wordpress, it is certainly possible yes, however it would take a bit of server trickery on our side to make domain1.com totally transparent so the request actually looks as though domain2.com and domain3.com are real domains and not just simple redirects.

All you would be required to do on your part is make sure that domain2.com and domain3.com are pointing to the same name servers as domain1.com. Then you would just need to put a ticket into our support desk at https://ccc.webhsp.com with the two domains you wish to add and reference this forum post ( http://forums.webhsp.com/index.php?showtopic=95) so we are aware of what you are needing (save you having to type it all out again) and we will be happy to set it up for you.

As for your question in regards to the account switch over, that is something that you would need to discuss with our accounts team on. If you could log a ticket at https://ccc.webhsp.com we will certainly take a look at your request.

If you have any more questions or concerns Carl, please let us know.

Thanks!

Yes, I definitely agree with you Mark. It is definitely confusing and it is typically the problem of having multiple domains. You should be familiar in naming your domain, don't try to put a hyphen of them.
